somehow Don't Let The Forest In is a Goodreads Choice Awards Finalist (WHAT)
author updates and general forest rot, from c.g. drews
Just me being totally normal about this and not at all lightly freaking out but Don’t Let The Forest In is a GOODREADS CHOICE AWARDS FINALIST. Somehow??!!? I did lowkey hopefully suspect I would be a nominee because of the frankly wild amount of adds on Goodreads (120K adds right now which melts my brain) but I didn’t think I’d make it to finals due to it only having been out for a month and, you know, going up against some of the biggest most popular YA author out there.
So like 😂 what even.
But you can vote for me here on Goodreads if you want!!
I don’t expect to win the Goodreads Choice Awards or anything like that, but it’s insanely cool and special to see this. To have a book that’s like…known. That’s read. I have dreamed of this for 10 years, of having people want to read and hear about and be excited over my art. My first two books were such small releases, so to see Don’t Let The Forest In thriving is surreal. It’s legit the dream-come-true moment. Emotions are catching up to me and my head is full of happy static.
Apparently once the forest gets in, it’s very hard to get out. Like grass stains on your clothes basically!! Or like, mould perhaps. (But cute mould.)
also super excited about being on the…
School Junior Library’s Best YA books of 2024 list
Chicago Public Library’s Best Teen Fiction of 2024 list
Barnes & Noble’s Best Books of 2024 list
He’s also been on the New York Times Bestseller list for 3 weeks now, is currently #1 in every category on kindle Amazon UK, and booksellers keep telling me they’re selling out as soon as it hits the shelves. So THAT’S ALL HAPPENING.
Out now in the USA and Australia. Find it at…
Barnes & Noble, Amazon, Target, Bookshop, Books-A-Million, Walmart, The Lavender Rhino (comes with signed bookplate), Amazon UK, Amazon Aus, Waterstones, Dymocks, Blackwells
You can also grab the B&N Special Edition with mossy sprayed edges and bonus fairy tales and an annotated chapter from me here if you want!
Don’t Let The Forest In is about two boys whose all-consuming friendship takes a dark turn when one of them realises the only way to stop the horrors clawing out of the other’s drawings is to destroy the creator. A dark academia forest rot horror with an asexual main character, eldritch monsters, fairy tales of the macabre variety, and an obsessive codependent romance. Find it on Goodreads.
Thank you (THANKYOU) for all your support. This book would be nowhere without you.
